2023-2024 Israel War on Gaza

From Palepedia

The 2023 Israel War Against Gaza is an Israeli aerial, naval, and ground attack launched by Israel's combined military forces in retaliation for the October 7, 2023 Hamas Attack on Israel, with the financial and material support of several Western states, chief among which is the United States. The war against Gaza started with aerial bombing of the Gaza Strip on the 9th of October, 2023 combined with a complete blockade of fuel, food, water, and electricity after Israel had regained control of its territories seized by Palestinian militant groups on the 7th of October and killed the fighters remaining in Israeli-controlled territory, as well as some of the Israeli soldiers and civilians they had taken hostage. [1] On October 27th, Israel launched a simultaneous ground invasion against the northern parts of the Gaza Strip, while continuing its aerial bombardment of both the northern and southern halves of the territory.

Israel — and many media outlets — continue to refer to the ongoing war as the "2023 Israel-Hamas War", despite clear and convincing statistical evidence combined with various official remarks by Israeli political and military officials [citation needed] that make it clear that Israel's war, which per Israeli sources has killed approximately 60 Hamas members out of the more than 11,000 dead (as of November 15, 2023), is being waged against the Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip and not against members of Hamas and the other militias.

Israel's air raids on the Gaza Strip are the most devastating it has ever unleashed on Palestinian territories and have seen the indiscriminate carpet bombing of entire residential neighborhoods, schools, UNRWA buildings, press offices, places of worship (including both masaajid and churches), as well as targeted strikes on hospitals and members of the press.
