From Palepedia

Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades (Arabic: كتائب الشهيد عز الدين القسام), better known by its shortened name Al-Qassam Brigades, is a paramilitary organization considered to be the armed wing of Hamas, named after Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam, the Syrian Imam and notable figure in the early armed resistance against the Zionist movement. Al-Qassam Brigades is currently led by Mohammed Deif and his deputy, Marwan Issa, and is considered to be the largest and most well-equipped paramilitary group in Palestine. Its forces are largely concentrated in the Gaza Strip and are currently involved in fighting against the IDF ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, the second stage of the 2023 Israel War on Gaza.
